BIKES FOR THOSE REACHING 50Y.....
AND
BEYOND., WHAT BIKE FOR HIM?
Some of those people reaching the age of 50
yrs and beyond, may find it difficult to do jobs requiring to do
multitasking alerts on motor bikes of today. Times changes, People change! Till now,
The local teashop seemed to handle the situation more effectively than
Bike Seller Companies. If a person asks for a tea with half sugar, less
sugar, more sugar, etc, the customer to our door should be served what
he needs.
And that is what they do. Situation is no different for bike mfg
companies and their dealers.
TVS company has brought the TVS JIVE motorcycle, of 110 cc which has a
unique feature. And that is lack of a clutch
at the left handle bar. When the scooties came to the market, people
learned to ride without gears and the idea of gear changing, that
was taxing to the rider. esp when he was old !
IT is the bike FOR ALL
! Driving should be a pleasure, and should not be an errotic
multitasking marathon ride?!!

SHORT PERSONS
INTENDING TO RIDE TWO WHEELERS SHOULD READ THIS STUFF !
IF they ask me, if it is fate that causes people to die in road
accidents I will say, NO I DONT BELIEVE IT, ONLY ONE % I WILL keep for
FATE, KARMA OR BEYOND EVERYONE'S CONTROL !
The following article is written TO AVOID ACCIDENTS with foresight
thoughtfully, as many have done And as People die cruel deaths in road
accidents:
Due to various reasons below :
1. Lousy Govts everywhere and their highway authorities -who dont keep the
road clear of sand dunes on the sides, who dont keep the road tops clear
from tree tops, branches; there is punishment in govt depts for no fault
of their own, and real faults and neglects that kill people go neglected
by the Govt authorities everywhere in the world. In One highway, a heavy
truck with tall containers was running in mountain side routes which
wasfull of tall trees. The drivers always look out thru the front, towards
the top front, to see if the container may hit the tree branches above the
truck. He will steer the truck to left or right depending upon this. I was
a regular driver on that road, so I knew what a truck does,and I used to
stay clear off them. Can a new man who returned back to India from
abroad after some ten years be aware of all these intricacies ?? He will
simply believe all are following rules. He drove right into the truck as
he swayed in front of him and he died within hours. Tragedy.Children left
fatherless.
Woman, left alone.Horrible but not fate at all. Had the engineer
taken adequate care to cut away the obstructing trees, this would have
been avoided, TODAY HE WOULD BE ALIVE ! That engineer was never punished.
He will have his govt grouses if you ask him. Same way, You cannot ride
your vehicle fast in One Way Entry happily, because there are crooked
fellows with Power of Political Men, who will come in "No Entry". So You
have to expect rule breakers,always in all Asian countries and No action
will be taken against them by law makers or law enforcers..
2.The
Govt should have taken
enof care to WIDEN as much as possible in
all Road Bends on highways every where. But instead, these bends are very
narrow in many places resulting in tragedic deaths in accidents due to the
fault of short sighted govts who dont have any idea about their work and
its consequences if not carried out in time.
3. Do you know many people have died in India, simple due to the
slippery sand on road sides in cities and suburbs?? Two wheelers mostly
taking the extreme left due to some fast vehicles coming from behind, end
up in slippery sand and falling down, with the vehicle sometimes, body
falling under the backwheels of trucks and buses. All these due to the
Govt officials not having any idea of what is most important and what is
not. I am not blaming any particular govt. IT is there in all countries in
theworld.
4. Signals in Junctions could have been kept 50 feet in advance for the
coming riders to see in advance so that they get time to apply brakes.
Instead they have kept it close to the junction.Now this is attended to in
some cities ( by mistake or by notice or by thoughtful action??) Many have
died clashing into the coming vehicle riding at high speeds just to cross
the junction. Who is responsible forthis? The infrastructure can be made
by Govt for AVOIDING DEATHS and for creating accidents.!!!
5. Our road safety associations and automobile associations are
sleeping
the world over with retired
staff from various govt depts coming and occupying the prestigeous seats
Just for Nothing, doing nothing. They donot know their duties.
Young activists should take over these posts. To show their talents.
Madurai Red Cross Society is a standing example of good active service to
the people.
6. Vehicle manufacturers have become less
attentive to the SAFETY FEATURES
in vehicle. There are some expenses or equipments or spares which are
exclusively to protect the rider or others on the road. And with out that
equipment, the vehicle can run, can be sold, can be purchased etc....
IT is the road authories' duty to see that vehicles dont ply on the road
without appropriate equipments of safety. One "Not so important" but is
useful if present, is the MudGuard for the Backwheel of Motorcycles. A
flap used to hang at the back of the M/c so that when it rained the water
will not be splahsed right on the face of the rider following the
M/c. White shirts become dirty and have to be changed after reaching
office due to these abnormalities and lack of wisdom of mfrrs. The Mfrrs
save a small amount by not providing this on the vehicle. If RTOs dont
allow it, then Mfrrs will attach this to the vehicle. This can cause death
very rarely. Like if some one getting a splash of rain muddy water
he may lose control of vehicle and go and dash against any other incoming
truck etc.
7. Accelerator on the right handle is such an easy thing that can be
rolled on its stem and when turned by Mistake, while falling down, after
getting HIT, the Motorcycle pulls the rider and goes forward dashing
against anything in front. I have ideas on it But No time to write here.
But itis a serious Mfg mistake, mind it,this is for your knowledge.
8.STRICTLY FOR SAFETY OF LIFE, LOW HEIGHT TWO WHEELERS for short
women as well as men, and kids ARE A MUST AND MUST BE INSISTED BY THE RTOs
of ALL STATES OF INDIA.

Seat Ht should be as low as possible. If necessary, further reduction
can be done by removing foam from the seat without making it look very
ugly.
Wt of the vehicle should not be heavy.
Floor Board is very broad in some 2W to enable riders carry luggage
conveniently. Such vehicles
may not be good for short persons.
Suggestions : TVS can reduce the STREAK seat hts further.to 75cm and
the floorboard can be 35cm.
Honda can make Dio with 35cm floorboard.

Most saddest of all is the Bicycle or Motorcycle for the fair sex. In the
male dominated world of male ego, the females esp in Asia etc have not
been PROVIDED WITH A TWO WHEELER FOR LADIES. And they were not even
considered as needing some special features while mfg.
A few of the fairsex are as strong and dynamic as some strong men. Others
are not.Others, who are short,when they want to stop the vehicle say
bicycle, they cannot put their foot down from such a tall seat and fall
down in variably. School girls ride to schools without proper balancing
knowledge of vehicles. I have seen a girl die with her skull under the bus
wheel, because she fell down , Losing balance of the bicycle. It is
clearly the mfrr's mistake or parents mistake tobuy such vehicles for
their kids, without antiicipating the consequences. Such girls are riding
tall bicycles with panic, even now, as you read this article. This is not
her mistake. The kids are kids upto the age of 18 or sometimes 20.
ONE THING I LEARNED FROM THE HUMAN WORLD. one man puts banana peels after
eating bananas Just On the middle of the road. And another comes falls on
it and dies in the heavy traffic. And a third one comes to remove the peel
and throw it to the road side.
9. Ten years back I started on my two wheeler to my office about 20km
away. It was morning. I always prefer to go before the heavy peak traffic
of the "late office goers" starts say at 9am.
I would not have known that after some 15minutes I will fall down with a
screech and the vehicle sliding down the road for about 30 feet. Yes, as I
turned a bend, some people were standing by the side of the road and did
not give any communication. It was a city. So people do stand on the
sides. I didnt bother and I rode on at a speed of 40km with my pillion
rider of 65kg wt. An oil truck that had gone thru the road just before me,
had spilled oil on the road starting from the place where people were
gathered in a small gathering. Just as my two wheeler entered that spot no
body warned, and I fell down to my left along with the pillion rider. My
kneecap was hurt and opened up due to a severe wound. Bleeding came
without stop for the next 10min or so. All this, due to whom?? Due to that
truck, that police force who will not punish him or those mindless
spectators who were waiting to watch how many fell down further and how
fast they fell down??!! The first thing I did was to walk with the
bleeding to the roadside, take some dry mud and soil and put them on the
oil on the road. so that next rider will get the alert....

if we all come together.
But he is more heard and less followed.
Mfrrs should have a social audit of bike's
compatibility to societal health and environ,we feel.
You may not know these?! Did you ever think about these!!
Asian countries excepting a few are marauders of public health, are all
neo-rich plunderers at the top. These guys are easily bought for a small
price, by the western counterparts and these non-patriots pledge their
country's soul to the western soul destroyer-MNCs.
DAY AFTER DAY SAFETY IS BECOMING LESS AND LESS AND PROFIT ORIENTATION
FOR THE COMPANIES ARE BECOME HIGHLIGHTED FOR THE BOSSES.
They cut out some part as under-demanded! Some may not be demanded by
the buyer, but the Govt may demand it, the NGO environ may demand, the
Humanism NGO may demand it.
The bike's exhaust emission pipes
used to be looking downward on the ground, throwing hot gusts of
exhausts on the grounds, and they (don't,actually)become less harmful
without throwing the exhaust on hour face. Now most of the thunder bikes
can shoot it like a bullet of emission fume right on your face. Because,
the direction of the ex pipe is changed in the last 15 to 20 yrs.
HORRIBLE CHANGES!
There used to be a WatersplashArrester
Pad hanging at the back of all the bikes. It was possible to ride
behind the bikes( and now cars also lack it!!!). Which MD or GM or Boss
decided to remove this Humaitarian Service Aid! ??
This became a trend. And in rainy season, it is horrible to ride behind
cars,buses, and bikes that have no pad as told above.
You will notice these things dont cost much. But their removal
costs much- If a company comes forward to reintroduce these, we would be
proud to hold them up !!

Non Compliance with international uniform
standards of general acceptance:
The Qwert Keyboard of the typewriter was maintained by
all the computer key board mfrrs and used by all small and big
companies. Why some companies did not go in for changes in keyboard
configuration,to have a style of their own??
Some cracks would have done it some where in the world, putting the user
to frightening madness, looking at, or using the keyboard.
The usage all around the world should be always RESPECTED.
I am coming to the point. Clutch and Gear in bikes!!
Gears,1 2 3 4 5 down in somebikes, up in some bikes, back in somebikes,
back up and down,front up and down!! All in a mess. The user adjusts
himself in a few days.OK.But these are unwarranted changes, disturbing
the mind that has settled for a particular pattern. The bullet bike, had
the gears, which when pressed down forcefully in crisis, locks into the
first gear and stops the vehicle to a grinding halt.How many know about
the philosophy about this technique???!
At times of safety, confusion, to bring the bike to a sudden halt, you
can simply press the gear shift down all in one push, or kick. And leave
the clutch, the machine stopssssssssssss.
All other companies never followed these important safety standards for
users. Had they been uniform for all vehicles it would have been a
delight and many would not have perhaps lost their lives in accidents.
Another BigDanger is lying in the accelerator handle on the right of the
bikes.
It should have been NOT like AS IT IS now. I had a different design for
it!!

FIRST BLAME ALL THE TRANSPORT AUTHORITIES OF ALL THE GOVTS WHO HAVE NO
INSIGHT AND NO CONTROL AND INSPIRATION TO DO GOOD THINGS FOR PEOPLE.
THEY HAVE MANPOWER JUST TO COLLECT AND REMIT TO GOVT. AND NO OTHER THOTS.!!!EH!!!
